The effectiveness of Logotherapy program based on Islamic-Iranian values on marital satisfaction among parents of exceptional children

Research shown that the presence of exceptional child could reduce parental marital satisfaction. Implementing Logotherapy program based on Islamic-Iranian values, the aimed of the current study was to improve marital satisfaction in parents of exceptional children. We used the quasi-experimental design with pre/post and two months follow up and a control group. The population  included all mothers of slow-paced children aged 0 to 5 years. Using 20 participants drew and allocated into the experimental (11 participants) and control group (9 participants). Research tools were “Afrooz Marital Satisfaction- Revised” and  “Logotherapy program based on Islamic-Iranian values on spiritual happiness and  marital satisfaction among parents of exceptional children” as intervention that was presented in twelve of 60-minute sessions. Data revealed that the interventional program could significantly improve marital satisfaction which was stable in two month follow up stage. Designed program could increase marital satisfaction in parents of exceptional children and can be used by the psychologist, counselors and families of exceptional children.
